Originally from the Kansas City area, Jillian graduated from Kansas State University majoring in Animal Sciences with a focus in Equine Science. After college, Jillian spent time working with horses including halter training weanlings, starting yearlings under saddle, equine breeding and foaling, as well as working in a show barn handling everything from ponies to stallions. It wasn't long before Jillian recognized the many parallels between the equine and canine worlds, leading her to explore a career working with dogs.
It was when she got a job with a local dog walking and pet sitting company in college that Jillian's love for dogs and their people grew into a deeper passion. While working as a dog walker, Jillian found herself wanting to dive deeper into the vast world of dog training, and wanted to have a greater understanding of dogs (and cats too!), their behavior, and body language.
After leaving Kansas in 2017, Jillian moved to Savannah, Georgia where she worked at a kennel-free dog daycare. A few years later, she started her own dog walking and pet sitting company, which ultimately lead Jillian to her career in Professional Dog Training. Jillian made the choice to attend and complete the intensive 12-week course at Starmark Academy, where she graduated as a Canine Training and Behavior Specialist.
It was through the Starmark Academy alumni community that Jillian and TAOD's owner, Anneliese, crossed paths in 2024, as Anneliese also attended Starmark Academy (FKA Triple Crown Academy) in 2011.
When she’s not out training with your pups, Jillian enjoys spending her time with her two dogs, Teddy, a Bloodhound/German Shepherd mix and Zeke, a Shepherd mix, and two cats, Delila & Toothless. While she loves dogs, she also has a very soft spots for cats too, and may even refer to herself as a crazy cat lady from time to time!
