A note about Anneliese, Owner & Head Trainer
Like many people who work in the dog industry, Anneliese has been around animals and has been infatuated with them for all of her life. Starting in 2006, she went to work at a veterinary clinic in Virginia to get hands on experience in the field she had always thought was her life's calling. This led her towards her true passion-- training dogs. She started to realize that the vast majority of dogs she was dealing with on a daily basis were uncomfortable being handled and were not able to cope with common, everyday stressors of our human lives that we share with our dogs.
This realization sparked her interest in animal behavior. While she initially went to college at Kent State University, studying Zoology, Anneliese found herself veering away from what her true interests were and chose to focus her studies on canine behavior. Fast forwarding to present day, and her work has taken her to relocate for jobs everywhere from Virginia to Maryland, Texas, California, Arizona, Wisconsin, Oregon, New York, and more as she gained expertise in canine behavior and training. Her extensive experience involves working in facilities to include dog daycares, high end pet resorts and clinics, as well as working for top notch dog training companies and being employed by two highly regarded dog trainer trade schools (see details below). Anneliese has also worked with a wide variety of breed-specific and all-breed rescues across the country, to help better the chances of difficult dogs to find a wonderful home.
Anneliese has a strong passion for helping people have the relationship they have always desired with their dogs. For some, that might mean having a well-rounded family companion, and for others, that might mean having a dog who competes in the vast world of sporting opportunities available for dogs. Anneliese ended up diving into playing in dog sports as a hobby in 2012 when she wasn't busy working with people and their pets. This passion has since evolved into being on three USA World Championship teams for the sport of Mondioring, as well as having successfully competed in a handful of other sports with her own dogs.
The approach that Anneliese takes with her clients uses dog training techniques based on modern science which involve motivational methods applicable to the real world. Her unique experience of combining working with hundreds of pet owners over the last 15 years with being an active competitor in a variety of dog sports enables her to provide thoughtful and professional training for her clients. Anneliese has worked for some of the most recognized and respected names in the industry, and she is proud to have the unique opportunity to take pieces from every mentor, employer, and educational resource she can find to implement the very best for each dog-human partnership that she gets to work with.
At The Art of Dogs, we know that formal and continued education is very important in any industry and is especially important in professional dog training, as there is no governing body to regulate the “professionals." Some of Anneliese’s notable credentials are listed below.
