We are delighted to bring back Group Classes for our clients!
Our Group Classes are designed for our existing clients to have a fun and affordable way to continue training progress with their dogs. We do our classes as a "drop-in" style format, meaning you can attend one or as many as you would like! These were a big hit with our Oregon clientele prior to COVID-19 taking over the ability for group-gatherings, so we are really excited to finally bring this service back to life now in New York!

Attending group classes are wonderful ways to stay motivated and continue training your dog, as well as encourage you to evolve your relationship with your dog in new ways.
I assisted and led group classes for years for other businesses where group classes were the main ticket dog training option, and couldn't help but notice how much frustration and stress there was in the room on both ends of the leash for the first several weeks of a course. I took note right then that I would want to make some changes if I ever ran my own dog training business.
In case you haven't noticed....We do some things differently here at The Art of Dogs!
Our group classes are only available to dogs who have completed a training program with us already.
But, why?
This ensures that each dog owner is able to keep their dog both safe and focused in the setting, and get to make the most of this learning experience with their dog. If we have some dogs who are brand new to training and are too easily distracted by being around other dogs, then it takes the fun and progress away from others.

Class Descriptions
Canine good citizen
Canine Good Citizen is a class for people who are looking to perfect their dogs' most basic skills, for all of those real-world situations. This "Canine Good Citizen" class is modeled after the AKC CGC test items , with a twist of adding greater levels of challenge! We will be working on advancing those basic manners (sit, down, stay, recall, polite greetings, & ignoring distractions, to name a few!) as well as giving these behaviors more real-life application challenges to work through together. If you and your dog end up rocking this class, you will have the option to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and get your dog his or her AKC CGC title, as Anneliese is a certified CGC Evaluator!
This class will take place both indoors and outside (weather permitting) at our training space in Carmel. This class may also occasionally be offered off-campus as well.

Sports Edition
Sports Edition is a class for people who are interested in giving their dog a different type of training experience. Sport and trick-training are great ways to mentally stimulate your dog while building a stronger relationship with him or her, expend some of that excess energy, and dip your toes into the world of dog sports. We will cover how and why we use markers, getting better engagement, building motivation for your dog for training, and how to teach a variety of fun behaviors!
This class will be held indoors most, if not every session, at our training space in Carmel or Redding. |
Tails on the town
Tails on the Town is the class for those dog-owners who would love to enjoy the dog-friendly world together more! In these classes, we will be exploring different hikes, dog-friendly patios, coffee shops, wineries, breweries, events, and more! We will be working on holding our dogs to the highest social-standards as we get to traverse around the Tri-State Area together and enjoy all that this area has to offer for it's dog-owning community!
This class will be held at various spots all around the tri-state area! Be sure to check the location when signing up for this class!
