The science of dog training has come a long way in the last 30 years. We’ve learned an incredible amount about how animals in general learn with advancements in the study of animal behavior, learning theory, animal emotion and cognition and more. Every bit of this information is important to consider when working with animals, specifically dogs because unlike most other animals, we expect dogs to be members of our families and conform to the rituals of today’s society, which doesn't come naturally for dogs.
Unlike many other trainers, we do not promise quick fixes or prescribe to a specific ideology. We take what we have learned through formal education, independent research, and experience working directly with hundreds of dogs and their owners to craft a training plan that not only fits the goals of the client, but that is clear, fair & enjoyable for the dog.
Being a good dog trainer doesn’t just mean getting dogs to be able to sit or down when told but to have the dogs be able to do all of the behaviors we want reliably and to enjoy the process along the way. As a culture, we have a tendency to want things done as quickly as possible. While there are some simple things dog owners can do to make quick, drastic changes in their relationship with their dogs, most of these ‘solutions’ take time, effort and patience, but the dividends are beyond rewarding.
Our mission is to help you achieve the goals you are looking to accomplish with your dog, whether it be in the house, out hiking, or through dog sports like competition obedience, agility or scent work. Our understanding of both the science of dogs and dog training, combined with our years of experience working directly with dogs, allow us to masterfully craft this unique blend for you: The Art of Dogs.

Straight Talk Policy
At The Art of Dogs, we strongly believe in being honest with our clients and that starts at the very beginning. You will notice that we don’t use fluff phrases like “holistic dog training” or how we are married to this approach or ban that training tool. We believe in selling real dog training results for real people and their dogs, and that means we don’t subscribe to the idea that we have to market anything other than authentic solutions.
