The last thing any of us want to deal with after a long day is a reckless dog who won't come when called, pulls on the leash, won't sit still when told, jumps on strangers or barks at the door. Rest assured, all of these challenges are issues we face on a daily basis to help our clients overcome. If you feel that your dog is stubborn or even too intelligent for his or her own good, always distracted, won't settle down, doesn't listen or just needs some basic manners, we offer training plans to help you succeed in transforming your dog from the neighborhood nuisance to the talk of the town.
We enjoy spending time with our dogs going on long hikes, relaxing at a brewery with friends, hanging out at sporting events, bike rides, camping or just going anywhere dogs might be permitted and we want you to have the same luxury without the added anxiety of whether or not they will bark at other dogs on the trail, run out onto the soccer field or knock over someone's beer.
We specialize in working with young dogs and working/sporting breeds. We personally enjoy sharing our lives with energetic, highly intelligent dogs as well and it is our passion to help others live a life that fulfills both your dog, your needs, and your goals together. Adolescent dogs and puppies are our other passion and most common clientele, as we have found that young dogs are often overlooked for having behavior problems that dog owners and other trainers believe that they will "grow out of"-- but more often than not, there is a simple approach to working with the young dog that produces fair, clear results which requires an educated, experienced understanding to reveal.
The Art of Dogs offers a variety of training programs and tailors each of them to your exact needs. We are here to help and look forward to working with you and your four-legged best friend. If you'd like to learn more about the programs we offer, you can check out our Services page, or if you want to read what past clients have said, be sure to check out our Client Testimonials.

For dogs with severe behavioral issues, including aggression towards humans or other dogs we offer a long term program on a case-by-case basis. Because of our limited staff we are only able to take on one dog for rehabilitation at a time to ensure all the dogs in our care are getting the full experience and attention they require.
Art or Science?
We rely heavily on behavior theory, dog psychology, learning theory, physiology and much more to base our training methods on. We believe a sound understanding of these principals can help us better understand the most effective and humane ways to work with dogs.
However it takes more than understanding words out of a text book to make the most of the dogs we work with. When working with dogs, we fully immerse ourselves in the moment. Timing, precision, finesse and patience are of upmost importance to the success of any dog, whether it be a newly adopted dog from the county shelter, or the next obedience world champion.
